Opening Prayer by Mr. Swanson

By Renee Keegan: A reading of the non-member participation section of the by-laws was waived. The minutes for the January 2008 and February 2008 meetings were accepted. Marcella Ronayne has resigned as a member of the Consultative Board. Taking her place, in accordance with the Bylaws, is Karl Liwo.

  • Principal's review (by Mr. Swanson):
    • There will be a meeting in Sexton Hall on the 26th at 6:30 to discuss the upcoming 8th grade graduation.
    • 7th and 8th grade Washington trip: The prices are going up because of energy costs. A letter will be going out to parents giving estimated prices by bus and plane. We are asking parents to reply and indicate whether there is an interest in going by bus or plane or whether they are choosing not to participate. The trip will be from June 2nd - 5th. We need at least 30 students to sign up out of a total of 55. Most people so far who are interested prefer to go by bus.
    • Additional Scholarship: Lise Guerrier in the 8th grade has received scholarship in the amount of approximately $26,000 to Buckingham, Brown & Nichols.
    • Sean Moynihan won the Max Warburg Courage Curriculum essay contest and wrote a moving piece about his grandfather.
    • There are two workshops being held after school. One is for puppetry and the other is for sketching. They will be held on Mondays and Tuesdays, respectively, after school for one hour and 15 minutes for 6 weeks for a total cost of $60. The classes were initially limited to 12 students but enrollment exceeded that for sketching class. Accommodations were made.
    • Discussion of setting the first day of classes.
    • Father Bill stated that he is not against having school on Good Friday because most of the students did not attend Mass, and a service is held at 3:00 anyway. However, even if we had school, the teachers would like it off.

  • PTO Report (by Lisa Centrella):
    • Candy Bingo night will be held April 11 from 6-7:30.
    • April 28 - newsletter will go out
    • May 8 - Creativity night

  • Mother's Club Report (by Michelle Ross-Nuzzo):
    • The auction committee met to assign jobs for the day of the auction and to wrap up some general duty projects before the auction.
    • The Hood Sox Tops fundraiser will begin again in April. Please start looking for the Sox tops.
    • May17th Trivia night is planned. Mothers' Club has been researching the idea and it promises to be a fun event. Thanks to Peg Moynihan for bringing the idea to Mothers' Club and for being helpful in putting the night together.
    • We are also planning on doing an additional fundraiser. A decision as to the type of fundraiser (chocolate or candles) will be decided after the auction.

  • 1000 Club Report (by Sue Hetu):
    • Three school families won prizes at the last drawing.
    • $1000 winner (Simonelli), $300 (Kellys), $50 (DelloRusso)
